The Beyer Blinder Belle Foundation advances the role of architecture, planning, and preservation through fellowships, grants and other initiatives.

The Foundation engages the full cycle of design, from inspiring young people to enter the profession, to supporting graduate research, to enabling thoughtful, socially-conscious design and planning that directly benefits communities.

This mission is inspired by the core values of Beyer Blinder Belle, which from its founding defined an approach to design focused on architecture empowering people–through their interaction on streets and in neighborhoods, and through their connections to the surrounding built environment.

Higher Education Grant

CCNY Spitzer School of Architecture

Beyer Blinder Belle has created a scholarship at the Spitzer School of Architecture to support students who demonstrate both exceptional ability and financial need. BBB Partner Carlos Cardoso, City College of New York and Spitzer School graduate, led the establishment of the $10,000 scholarship, emphasizing that financial assistance toward tuition and living expenses at Spitzer is integral to fostering a diversity of talent. Although the Beyer Blinder Belle Foundation (BBBF) underwrites a travel fellowship open to U.S. architecture graduate students, Cardoso envisioned something more tailored to Spitzer students’ needs

Community Planning Grant

Launched in 2017, the Beyer Blinder Belle Foundation's Community Planning Grant assists organizations in diverse urban areas to achieve their goals related to community development, housing, historic preservation, job creation, infrastructure, and engagement in the public realm. Emphasis is on place-based initiatives that directly benefit a community and focus on a discrete geographic area rather than citywide programs, however policy advocacy or research proposals may also be considered, provided that they benefit historically under-served communities that may not have access to greater planning resources.
